I spend the largest part of my day working with wonderful people and companies, and one thing that’s very apparent is the old rules we constantly live by.

So I want to share the three top rules that I feel no longer apply.

If you have come from a corporate background, the chances are you will have heard of SMART goals.

S – Specific

M- Measurable

A – Attainable

R – Realistic

T – Timely

But everything about smart goals is everything but smart, I mean I agree with aspects of the set up. But these are very old rules, and we live in a very new world. You now need to change the way you look at goals, you NEED massive action now!

Let me ask you this, would you rather fall short on a £500,000 goal, or a £50,000 goal? I know which one I would like to fall short on.

Start making your goals laughable, they need to be ridiculous! If you know how you’re going to achieve them, they’re too low.

Under promise over deliver
We have often heard the saying that a great way to wow clients is by under promising and over delivering, again a very old school way of thinking. Sure you can under promise anything and come up top trumps.

But what really separate the real winners from the ones that just get by are the ones who over promise, and over deliver.

You need to be prepared to do extra ordinary things, if you wish to get extra ordinary results. If you follow everyone else, you’ll get the results they get.

You want any client you work with to not only want to work with you, you want them to hire you! Massive action!

Competition is good
Now I know you have heard of this one, competition is good!

Wrong, competition is far from good, the only time competition is good is when you’re a consumer, but if you’re in business, competition is far from good.

Lets face it, competing is hard. I share this with all my clients. When you compete someone will always be cheaper, faster, better..

To compete on all these variables is going to be hard.
