It’s a tempting, isn’t? Ordering a new car mean you can, within your budget, order your dream car in any colour, with any option so that pink model you’ve always fancied that mirrors your personality with massaging seats and leopardskin upholstery is just as easy to order as the base model.
But unless it’s the one thing that would make your life complete, up there with the priceless things in life like your partner, kids, health etc, do the numbers stack up? Probably not.
When looking to order a new car, particularly when leasing, it’s usually best financially-speaking to be as unspecific as possible. Have in mind all the key features eg number of seats, body style, boot size, image but be as open as possible. The reason for this is that at any one time there are numerous deals out there on particular models which make them very attractive. There are numerous reasons why a certain model or brand is on offer – manufacturer incentives, dealer targets, available build slots, pre-revision models etc – and the result can be a fantastic deal and, instead of having to wait 3 months or more, delivery can be within days once finance is agreed.
Leaving aside the dream car scenario, and sticking with reality, you may think the Nissan Qashqai is the car for you as that’s what all the other parents at your kids’ school drive but don’t rule out the Skoda Yeti or Hyundai Tucson or even the bigger Nissan X-Trail as these could be on offer at a much lower rate. A good leasing consultant will know what’s out there and be able to advise and will avoid quoting on just your initial preference.
